Welcome to Independence House

Independence House is a classic 1895 Italianate on a quiet corner of the historic river town of Independence, Ore. Walk to our charming Main Street, where you’ll find fine antiques, and a surprising variety of shops and restaurants. Enjoy movies, music and festivals in the river park/amphitheater. Or just take a quiet stoll among in our historic district.

We are two and a half miles from Western Oregon University, and surrounded by some of the best wineries in Oregon. Enjoy some peaceful “porch time,” or order a gourmet box lunch for a day trip spent exploring the area.

Independence House is nestled in the wine center of Oregon’s picturesque Willamette Valley, and is a short drive to Salem, Corvallis and McMinnville. The ocean beaches, Mount Hood and Silver Falls State Park are about an hour's drive away. And if a lazy "Sunday" drive is more to your liking, the Willamette Valley offers wonderful views in all seasons.
